Fusilier Battalions (Belgium)

After the liberation of Belgium in 1944, a number of independent Fusilier Battalions ((フランス語:Bataillons de fusiliers), (オランダ語:Bataljon Fusiliers)) were mobilized in order to support the Allied forces in Western Europe. In total, 57 separate battalions were mobilized between October 1944 and June 1945. About 20 of them saw active service during the final year of the war.〔 From December 1944, the remaining fusilier battalions were formed into 16 "Fusilier Brigades".
The 1st and 3rd Battalions served in the Netherlands, the 4th Battalion was at the Rhine, while 5th fought during the Battle of the Bulge, the 6th at Remagen and the 7th at Plzeň in Czechoslovakia.〔
